Twenty years ago (Wow! Has it been that long?), I owned the Complete Symphonic Recording of "Les Miz". I loved that CD, and listened to it constantly. But in college, I loaned it to someone and never saw it again.

After debating with myself, I finally purchased it again. It came yesterday, and I'm so thrilled. Yay!

I also took a chance on a suggestion from a friend and bought the soundtrack to "Wicked". I had heard of the musical but wasn't sure I'd like it. The Wizard of Oz was my first fandom. Well, a fandom of one at that time. It was a very lonely fandom. Anyway, I'm a purest when it comes to that story so I wasn't sure I'd like a retelling from the Wicked Witch's point of view. Hearing the songs changed my mind, and now I really want to see it.

So the musical geek in me is extremely happy. And my reawakened love for it keeps on going. We're buying tickets to see "Spamalot" in February, and we're making plans to see Wicked in March. I'm just happy The Bearded One is going along with all of this.

Before all of this, the last musical soundtrack I bought was "Rent". Anything else I should be checking out?

1) My Les Miz: 25th Anniversary Concert came today. I know what I'll be watching tonight.

2) No word on the full-time librarian position yet. I continue to wait.

3) Thoughts on OUAT )

4) Weekly update on OF THE SEA coming soon.

5) The Golden Globes will be on this Sunday. Who's going to watch it with me? :)

How is your day going?

Happy New Year! May 2013 be awesome to us all!

I finally saw Les Miz this past weekend, let's discuss...

My inner fifteen-year-old is squeeing )

I tried reading the book when I was a teenager, but it was so over my head. I think I'll try again now that I'm an adult. Wish me luck!

Speaking of books, I didn't reach the fifty book goal I set on Goodreads. I met it last year, but this year, I was a slow reader. I blame the move and stuff. It knocked me off my rhythm. Anyway, I'm setting a different reading goal this year. I'm going to set my Want to Read list in order of date added and try to read all the books in order. I might intersperse some new stuff, but I want to read that list down.

Anyone want to join me in the challenge? We can set a goal for ourselves, and see if we can make it. What do you say?

And, yes, we saw The Hobbit as well. )

What did you think of both movies?

No, I haven't seen Les Mis yet. Hubby is taking me on Saturday, and I'm so excited. Have you seen it yet? What did you think? Go, Team Eponine! ;)

I did, however, see the Doctor Who Christmas special. No spoilers here so I'm just going to say I loved it. Moffatt has me intrigued with this new season. Very, very intrigued.

Speaking of the holidays, we had a good Christmas. Good time spent with family. And now we're looking forward to our quiet New Year's Eve. Yay!

Less than half an hour to go at work. Anything exciting happening in your neck of the woods?

In a couple of weeks, Les Miserables will open in theaters, and I'll drag my poor husband to go see it with me.

I'm so looking forward to this movie. I've loved Les Miz since I was 15, and Eponine has always been my favorite character. (Of course, now that I'm in my thirties, I want to tell Eponine to forget about Marius and find a hot student who appreciates her.)

Anyway, I know I'm going to be the uber-nerd mouthing every word to every song. And it's going to be awesome!

And, yes, I've watched this clip on repeat:
