Happy December! And we're back to our regular schedule. But it is the month of Christmas so that makes me happy.

How about another Blog Posting Day!

8 Post a song that makes you want to write. (Or gets you in the mood to read All Of The Fanfic.)

I'll post links to youtube videos when I get home, probably tomorrow. Until then, I'll just list.

For my current original story, MAYBERRY WITH MONSTERS:

No Light, No Light - Florence + the Machine
Sinister Kid - Black Keys
Barton Hollow - The Civil Wars
Again - Flyleaf
Cornflake Girl - Tori Amos

For my previous story, WHITE SPIRIT:

Haunted - Poe
Amazed - Poe
Questions - System of a Down
Dead Souls - Nine Inch Nails
Living Dead Girl - Rob Zombie

I haven't written fic in a while, but I have a couple of songs that remind me of current fandoms:

ET - Katy Perry (Thor)
Devil's Backbone - The Civil Wars (Haven)
The Last Dance - Within Temptation (Sleepy Hollow)

Yay, music!

Seven years ago today, I married my best friend. It was a small and pretty wedding full of family and a few close friends. I wore a simple wedding gown, and Hubby wore a tux with a long jacket. He even pulled his long hair back for the occasion. However, the beard was in attendance.

I have to say, I was surprised I was getting married. At the beginning of the 2000s, I never thought I'd find Mr. Right. I had dated a few clunkers, and I was discouraged.

Then in 2001, a few college friends and I saw Moulin Rouge ... )

And now, on with the 31 Day Meme.

5. 10 songs you love right now

1) "Get Lucky" - Daft Punk

Thank you, Gotye, for getting that song stuck in my head. It's from The Great Gatsby soundtrack. Still haven't seen the movie yet, but I love the music.

Okay, onto the #WriteMotivation goals.

1) Start working on the third draft of WHITE SPIRIT.

I started it! I did, I did. I nailed down Tristan's back story, and I started working on chapter one. I'm going slow so I can think about each word I use. I need to make it better, smoother.

2) Write or edit every day I don’t have to work.

Now that I've settled into my new schedule, I can make this happen.

3) Have the first third done.

Since I've just started, we'll have to see.

Okay, later on this week, I have another Summer Reading post plus some thoughts on Star Trek Into Darkness and ST: Enterprise. But for now, I think I should share my earworm. I'm warning you, it's catchy.

The Vampire Diaries has done it again. I found a new song that I absolutely love - "Fear and Loathing" by Marina and the Diamonds. I can't get enough of it.

Anyway, I have big news for you. I finally finished the second draft of White Spirit! Yay!!! So, while its with beta readers, it's time I started a new story.

Rebecca Enzor tagged me to answer these questions about my WIP. Since my New Shiny is now my current WIP, here's your introduction to it.

What is the working title of your book?
Of the Sea

Where did the idea come from for the book?
All the mermaid books I keep reading, my weird fascination with surfing, Chris Hemsworth in Thor, and my six years in Charleston.

What genre does your book fall under?
Adult urban fantasy

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
I always choose faces for my characters. For Brian, my main male character, I chose Chris Hemsworth, and for Addison, my main female character, I chose Deborah Ann Woll.

What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
A merman runs from his past and hides on land, but the fight he left behind is about to explode on land.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
I want to try the agent route first.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I haven't started it yet, but lately, I'm writing first drafts in three months.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
I'm not sure yet.

Who or What inspired you to write this book?
See the idea answer above.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
Merpeople in Charleston. There's romance, action, and intrigue. How much fun is that?

As for tagging, I'd love to see everyone answer these questions. I love reading about what people are working on.

Ah, a lazy Sunday afternoon. Those are my favorites. The most I'm accomplishing today is laundry. How about you?

Florence and the Machine was awesome on Friday. They performed at a venue in downtown Raleigh under a very nice night. No rain for once. I was impressed.

Florence does an awful lot of skipping back and forth while she sings, and I loved it. It made you feel like she was really happy you were there. Trust me, I was really happy I was there. She sang all my favorites - "No Light, No Light," "Breath of Life," and "Cosmic Love." It was absolutely fantastic. I'd definitely go see her in concert again.

I also took myself out to the coffee shop to work on WS yesterday. It felt good to get out of the house, and I was more productive in a new environment. Must do that more often.

Finally, Hubby and I are plowing through Star Trek:TNG. We're up to season six now. I'm telling you, the show keeps getting better and better.

Okay, time to settle in for some reading. I'm in the middle of Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake. It's the sequel to Anna Dressed in Blood (and if you haven't read that book yet, you really need to).
