The way this is going, I won't be done until January. But, we continue on.

Hubby and I finished Enterprise and have started Battlestar Galactica (the 2003 one). Impressions to come soon.

7 Share your favorite stories from your current fandom love(s)/ship(s). Tell us why they're amazeballs if you're so inclined.

Of course it would be one where I have to hunt down the answers. I haven't had a whole lot of time to read fic lately, which makes me sad. But I have found a few Haven gems. Give me one minute here.

Silencer by [personal profile] roseveare - " In the middle of the night, the town of Haven goes silent, and Duke thinks karma has it in for him. Casefile, gen/humour, early season 1."

Out of His Depth by Tanaqui - "Duke doesn't talk to cops and isn't interested in helping them out. So how on earth does an FBI agent end up in his bed? Missing scene from 1.01 Welcome to Haven."

Now that I'm caught up on season four, I'm planning to read all the Jennifer/Duke fic when I get a free moment.

Got any suggestions for me? I'm a gen and het girl.

4 Share your favorite stories (with links!) from your first fandom love(s)/ship(s). Tell us why you still love them.

Oh, wow! I don't even know if I can find these stories anymore. Let's see.

A Letter from Tessa by Jacquie Groom: Wow! I wasn't sure I could still find this one. It was the first fic I ever read, and I loved how heartbreaking it was. It captured so much emotion in one tiny story. It will forever be my favorite.

So This is Home by Brightknightie: It's a Christmas fic written for me during an exchange, and it was Richie being adorable and awesome. Richie never got enough love in my opinion.

I know there are more, but I can't seem to find them right now.

Brrrr...it's cold outside. Hello, winter! Bring me snow!

3 What was your first fandom love(s)? Your first ship(s)?

Ahhh...we're going back...way back to 1996. The year I discovered fandom. I was 19, and completely in love with Highlander.

Richie Ryan was my first fandom love. And I wrote a terrible Richie/OFC back then.

As for my first ship, I wasn't sure what a ship was then, but I loved Beth/Al from Quantum Leap. Their story was so heartbreaking.

And we're back with more blogging. Yay! I also really need to give my icons an overhaul, but we'll deal with that on Monday.

Moving on...

2) When did you create your LJ, and what brought you here? How did you get your username? Has it changed?

Since I'm sharing this with both DW and LJ, I'll talk about both names.

DW: I migrated here when everybody else seemed to. This one was going to be my writing journal, but fandom kind of crept in. Anyway, Ravenela comes from my last name plus my first initial.

LJ: And here's where I out myself. I joined LJ in 2001, way back in the early days. [personal profile] seimaisin talked me into joining, and I said why not? Dragonsinger came from my favorite Anne McCaffrey book. Menolly was always my favorite character.

I saw this over at [personal profile] helsinkibaby's blog and said, "Self, this is what we need to do to start posting again. So, come, follow me down the rabbit hole.

I'm a few days behind, but it'll be okay.

1) It's Friday (Thursday, in my case) and you have better things to do than post a blog entry. Just share something that makes you laugh.

I'm at work so I can't pull up any videos right now. However, the current Comedy Central promo of Thor 2 where Loki is talking to a bunch of kids is hilarious. I'll add a link when I get home.

ETA: Here's one of the spots:

Also, this Haven filk by the cast at NYCC made me giggle as well:
